Well, if you own one you know that the power steering
reservoir is just nasty, leaking, filth! I had my power steering
hoses replaced under my original BMW warranty, but this reservoir just
leaked and leaked. It can make it look like the hoses are
leaking, the clamps aren't tight and so on. While inspecting the
cap, I noticed a little rubber O-Ring in the cap that had been
mutilated from taking the cap on and off, plus I assume the heat these
cars generate under the hood played a big roll in the demise of this
O-Ring.
So I searched the parts database and sure enough I
found a new O-Ring for the reservoir.

- O-Ring Pick, but you can use whatever you think
will pry it out.

All these years with that wet, dirty
power steering reservoir and this is all it was, blah! It's
hidden, that little whore....ha-ha-ha: |
|
Pull out captain hook, since you might
get sick of seeing my hands...lol...lol: |
|
It was definitely deformed from years of
being there: |
|
Action shot, side by side....top = old,
bottom = new: |
|
Another action shot, new one
installed....: |
|
And the tool that made it all possible,
oh and I used this for the clips coming off the injectors / electrical
box thing also. A must have as it was $5 and has easily paid for
itself: |
