I've had a lot of comments asking me to explain further how I have the PC fans being utilized to cool the closet I re-did into an equipment room.  Soooo, I took some pics and shot a quick video with my camera to give you a better idea!

I'm terribly sorry that I did not get any pics of me making the parts work together, but sometimes I get in my groove and completely space taking pics.  I don't really want to take everything back out, so I took some pics of the connections while everything is still in the closet.  There is also a short video, albeit dark, I think you'll get the point.

This is a great setup and it really pushes the hot air around, effectively cooling the closet!

Here's a close up of the 2 fans I have placed between the Media PC and the Server.  These where just 2 separate fans that I zip-tied together and it works great:
And here's the single fan that blows in and around the modem, router, switches and so on:
Here is the fan control unit mounted on the bottom of a shelf:
Here is some of the wiring that goes to the fans and USB cable I am using for the fan controller power:
Close up of the connectors coming from the fan controller to the fan themselves.  You basically need to find the right wires for each application, cut them to fit or add wire if needed and finally solder the heat shrink the connections.

To test power, I find it easiest to use a 9 volt battery.  This easily simulates power and is a great way to bench test!:

Watch this short video to get a better understanding of how the fan controller allows you to run the fans AND have full control over the speed of the fans:
